If you want to achieve your goals, you need to stop asking for permission. This is why motivation is important in life because it stops asking questions and aligns you to work towards your goals. Goals are the stepping stones toward your dreams so, in order to achieve them, you need the motivation to keep you chugging along towards them.

Not everyone is born with motivation. There is a severe lack in some who believe ‘I’ll get to that one day’ or ‘the timing isn’t right’ or a classic case of ‘I can’t do that’. Motivation is the defining factor that turns a good thought into immediate action.

Today I brought a motivational story which will help you to keep going with your weight loss goals. A few days back I was talking to this gentleman Ashu Sakhuja who recently reduced 20 kgs in a few months. He is 39 years old, married with two kids. He was sharing how first he thought it was tough but his firm decision made everything so effortless. I thought his experience is worth sharing so he got ready to write for Fat To Fabulous as a guest writer.

The elephant is my favourite animal because of his cool and calm attitude. This T-shirt with an elephant on it, I gifted to myself a few years back as it symbolises someone who I always admire silently. Later I even got a tattoo of it on my left arm. I attracted elephant so much that on 30th January 2020 I was 106 kgs.

I run my own network marketing business. The initial days of my business were very hectic and my eating habits were bad. I had to sit the whole day in a coffee shop for work so the unhealthy munchings were common. My dinner timings were odd and I used to head to bed immediately after finishing my meal. This kept on happening for years. In a nutshell, my lifestyle was a complete mess.

In February 2020, I realised that I am overweight when I was serving a business event in Thailand. Because of the nature of my job, I had to stand for 20 hours on a stretch for 8 days. I found myself extremely unfit for the job because of my weight, I felt tired and restless. After coming back to India, I decided to do something about my weight. The first step to achieving anything is to realise the importance to be achieved, it was done right. I had a really strong purpose to reduce my weight and that was my health.

As the second step, I immediately bought a gym membership. I was following my gym instructor properly. I shared my goal with him to reduce 30 Kgs. He encouraged me to achieve It. It was going so well. I was working out for 2 hours every day. I even started doing a brisk walk for 20 mins along with that. I was constant with my workout routine. All of a sudden Coronavirus started spreading in my city rapidly, due to which the government declared to shut all the gyms. Till that time I already lost 10 Kgs weight so I was not ready to wait for gyms to be operational again. I started going for long walks every day in the public park. After few days complete lockdown was announced. The Parks were closed and even going outside anywhere wasn’t allowed. I was not ready to give up. I started using my terrace for long walks. I started with min 20,000 steps per day and then increased it to 60,000 steps per day. Eventually, I found myself taking 15,000 steps per day. Not just exercise eating right helped me a lot to reduce weight. I stopped eating wheat and replaced it with suji, besan, rice, poha, Dalia, Upma, khichri, dal. I focus more on consuming protein.

I have lost 20 Kgs till now. I feel more energetic and healthy. My weight loss not only helped me to look younger but it also decreased the risk of any disease.
