Whenever we hear the word Rajma Chawal, we crave for it. It is the only dish which I can eat again and again. For a lot of people, Sunday afternoons aren't really complete without having a plate of their favourite comfort food, Rajma Chawal. However, many believe that this dish makes one gain weight but here is good news for all lovers of this sumptuous dish, you can include ghar ke bane Rajma Chawal in your daily meal and still achieve your weight reduction goals. In fact, Rajma Chawal is one of the best meal options to gain plenty of protein intake for the day as it’s a wholesome meal with all nine amino acids.

What makes Rajma Chawal so healthy?

Both the main ingredients in this dish- kidney beans and rice belong to the basic food groups which are loaded with vital proteins, vitamins and minerals. Had together, they carry immense benefits for your body. When you have rajma chawal together, they release essential amino acids found in protein into the body, which otherwise would be missing if you have them separately. It even makes up for a good percentage of your daily dietary fiber requirements (40%). It also has a low glycemic index (GI), which fulfills the satiety levels and keeps you fuller for longer. Not just that, it contains good fiber content which keeps the bowels running smoothly, reduces constipation and cuts down on the bad cholesterol levels. All these factors together help aid healthy weight loss.


Whenever we try to reduce weight the first thing we think about is detox. 2 years back I came across this very interesting 3 days Rajma chawal detox. It really worked for me. Every time I do this detox, I reduce 2-3 kg weight just in 3 days. So, here I am sharing the plan of doing this fabulously mouth watering detox. 

3 DAYS RAJMA CHAWAL DETOX

This plan is similar for all the 3 consecutive days so, I am sharing the plan for one day. 

Morning- 1 Cup of lukewarm water with half lemon squeezed in it.

Breakfast- 250 ml Palak & Cucumber juice, 100 gm sprouts salad with lots of vegetables in it. 

Lunch- 100 gm steamed white rice, 100 gm rajma, 100 gm curd ,1 bowl full of Green salad. 

Snacks- 250 ml Palak & Cucumber juice, 1 bowl of Green salad

Dinner - 100 gm steamed white rice, 100 gm rajma, 100 gm of curd. 

  • Repeat this same routine for next 2 days.

  • Drink at least 1.5-2 liters water during the detox.

  • Stick to the quantity mentioned. 

  • No smoking and No alcohol during these 3 days. 

  • Not recommended if pregnant or having any disease.

So, all punjabis and non punjabis in the house make some noise for Rajma chawal and stay fit and fabulous.
